While living in Milwaukee with my wife and newborn son, I graduated from Marquette University in 1972. I joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a captain in the dental division of Scott Air Force base near St. Louis, Missouri. After serving in the Air Force our family of four, soon to be five, moved to Pierce County where we still reside. Shortly after moving to the area my dental practice gradually evolved from traditional dentistry into a more holistic philosophy . During my first five years of private practice in Ellsworth, WI. I came to believe that there was more to dentistry than what I had been taught. I began a path of continuing education that has taken me through advanced training in TMJ therapy, orthopedic orthodontics, cranial sacral therapy, bodywork / massage, nutrition, pain management, safe amalgam removal, biological / environmental dentistry, and more. I am still on that path of continuing education and I learn more all the time, spending 200 – 300 hours in class every year. Recently I’ve been publishing original material in article and textbook formats, as well as creating education materials for doctors and patients. I’m looking forward to our new office, and being able to give our patients even better care. Caring for my patients and helping them reach their health goals is what drives me everyday.

I became interested in alternative and holistic practices while attending St. Olaf College for my undergraduate degree. As a chemistry and dance major, I studied the biomedical sciences as well as yoga, massage therapy, and body-mind-centering techniques. I was always searching for ways to connect my interests, and enjoyed studying the many facets of the human body. During my freshman year of dental school, I attended a presentation that Dr. Laughlin gave on whole-person dentistry. Since then, I have committed myself to learning additional techniques and philosophies that may help me become a better dentist. Chatting with the patients of Health Centered Dentistry and hearing their stories has shown me the importance of treating the body as a whole.
I now feel very fortunate to have this unique opportunity to work at Health Centered Dentistry. Similar to Dr. Laughlin, I plan to pursue continuing education in orthopedic orthodontics and dental airway appliances. I have already had the privilege of attending the preliminary course in Oral Systemic Balance, as well as a Dental Sleep Medicine conference early this summer.
I am very excited to meet you, and to hear the stories and personal experiences that have led to you to Dr. Laughlin’s care. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to either myself or to any member of the team.

I’ve been a dental assistant since March of 1995 and a part of the fabulous Heath Centered Dentistry Team since May of 2000. Even though I work in Green Bay Country, I am married to a Minnesota Viking boy. GO VIKES! My husband and I love the outdoors and look forward to taking our daughter and son to BWCA when they are old enough to paddle a canoe.

Hi, my name is Amanda and I am very excited to have the opportunity to work in an advanced clinic that has such a great amount of compassion for what they do to help the community. I completed the dental assistant program from Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, WI and I am very anxious to continue to learn more about Holistic Dentistry. I grew up on an Organic dairy farm just outside of Elmwood, WI and I enjoy shopping and playing sports in my free time as well as spending time with my family and friends. I am very eager to get a chance to meet everyone and to be of assistance to you throughout your treatment.
